One typical private home in Australia caught fire one evening and this is how the story begins. He was not consumed by the flames right away, and the owner and her three kids managed to escape.
Even though they were able to bring one of their dogs out with them, the other dog—a little Jack Russell terrier—refused to go out and remained in the building. The firefighters who arrived first started pleading with her to save their pet while he was still inside the burning house.
Their discovery goes much beyond that. The owner spotted the dog, named Leo, in one of the rooms before he fled, thus it was clear that he was inside the blazing house. With a skeptic’s sigh, the firefighters cut the interference wires from the fallen power poles and smashed through the wall.
To their amazement, they discovered the courageous Leo inside. He was watching over a package that held baby kittens…
The dog wouldn’t leave the house because he remembered the little kittens who couldn’t take care of themselves, even while others were rescuing them. Only the following day will the mother cat, who is utterly terrified and has scorched fur, be located.
Leo managed to save his charges despite taking in a considerable amount of smoke and getting burnt multiple times; amazingly, none of the kittens suffered any damage. First aid was administered to everybody.
He is now a local legend and a fire department hero, a dog with a lion’s heart. We hope you loved this story. Don’t forget to share this with your friends and loved ones too, that way you can also show us your support, we appreciate it so much!
