Jack’s granddad purchased the cottage in 1959. At that time he was young, and was only 29 years old!
In his video, Jack explains that his dad, his grandparents grew up in this two-room house, without single glazing and insulation. This is the home where Jack’s grandfather resided until his death in 2010 at the age of 89.
It required numerous repairs. After being bequeathed to Jack’s father, the cottage remained neglected for around ten years. Jack was the one who decided to bring it back to life and transform the cottage into a new enterprise in addition to updating and fixing it.
He made the necessary renovations to the property to make it suitable for Airbnb rentals for a budget of somewhat less than $30,000. However, a great deal of work had to be done before the renovations could start and he was ready to put all the required effort.
His dad and Jack got to work organizing things and getting rid of everything that wasn’t necessary. It was time to begin the real renovations when the cleanup was completed.
He started posting updates on his development on social media and people started being interested in the renovating process. People utterly enthralled by his work. After his first video went viral, he gained 45,000 followers in a single day.
Jack worked alone on most of the project. In the videos shared on social media. He is seen clearing away a significant amount of the vegetation that has overgrown the house. It was his responsibility to install new roof battens, insulation, windows, electrical, and plumbing work.
