Dutch developer Johan Huiber was born and raised in the water-surrounded province of North Holland, and he has always been fascinated by the sea. Johan turned to God when he was 24 years old, and nine years later, he had a dream in which a tremendous flood destroyed all of the Netherlands.
Johan, who works as a carpenter, interpreted this as a sign telling him to build a boat based on Noah’s Ark. He started it in 1992 and started studying Noah’s Ark in hopes of eventually building a replica. He researched reference books, watched movies, and read the Bible.
Johan’s original iteration, which cost one million euros and was constructed in the port of Schagen between 2005 and 2007, was 70 meters long. Johan spent three and a half years sailing this ark across the Netherlands.
And this is not the only ark he constructed. He finished a bigger project in 2013 called Johan’s Ark! He worked on the ark for more than 4 years with eight helpers. There are seven stories in it.
Johan Huibers constructed the Noah’s Ark replica between 2008 and 2013. The Ark is situated in the Netherlands and has drawn hundreds of thousands of tourists. The ship itself is a multi-story, massive, life-sized exhibit. There will be attractions, a movie theater, Bible stories and exhibitions, and more for visitors to enjoy.
At the moment, Dordrecht, Netherlands, is where the Ark is anchored. It was built for more than 4 million euros and is supported by a platform made up of 21 barges. While tugboats can tow the ark over inland waterways, it needs to be transported across oceans on a transport ship or pontoon.
The dimensions of the new ark are 23 meters high, 30 meters wide, and 119 meters long. Over 280,000 people have seen the special boat in the past four years. There are attractions, a movie theater, Bible stories and exhibitions, and more inside, for visitors to enjoy.
To build the ark, an estimated 12,000 trees were used. Although the Bible says that Noah used gopher wood to build his ark, Johan Huibert used American pine and cedar trees instead. The Daily Mail said that the expense of sailing the ship across the Atlantic would be close to $2 million.
Many animal statues may be found in Johan’s Ark. There are two movie theaters and a café inside The Ark. Public access to Johan’s Ark began in 2012. Huibers had claimed that he had intentions to sail the ark to Brazil, but those plans were shelved.
Weddings, business meetings, and other important occasions are held in the enormous ark.
Due to the lack of an engine, Huibers will need to hire tugboats in order to navigate the ship, which will cost them roughly $1.3 million in total.
In one of the interviews he expressed his desire to sail the ship to Israel and said, “This is a copy of God’s ship.” He also declared his love for the Jewish state. It is only logical to take it to the nation of God.
Johan is truly deserving of great admiration for his exquisite creation. If you concur, please share this article with your family and friends too. That way you can also show us your support. Thank you for reading and being with us!
