Eilidh Paterson has neuroblastoma, a rare form of pediatric cancer, thermal stage. When the girl learned that imminent death was inevitable, she made a list of things to do, which should be realized in time. And chief among them was the desire to “play a wedding” – something that all girls and young women dream of. Only in the case of five-year-old Eilidh it took a slightly different, tragic but beautiful form.
Harrison Greer is six years old and is Eilidh’s best friend. In fact, they’ve been inseparable since they met, and of course the boy knew of the girl’s desire. About the refusal and there was no question, on the contrary, Harrison tried to do for Eilidh everything that was in his power. Specifically – to act as a “groom” at almost a real wedding ceremony, which for them organized a charity organization Love Rara together with the exhibition center of Aberdeen.
Festively decorated hall, as guests – close relatives and friends, as well as a lot of “superheroes and princesses” who came to congratulate the young couple. Even if not husband and wife, but officially “best friends forever”, as stated in a special document, with monograms and seals. Eilidh had everything as she wanted: a beautiful dress, veil, solemn passage through the whole hall, exchange of special necklaces and ceremonial photo shoot.
The organizers wrote the life story of five-year-old Eilidh in fairy tale format, in which the brave princess battles the evil beast “neuroblastoma” and refuses to give up even in the face of death. There were many other beautiful poems and speeches dedicated to the girl, and then dancing to hits from Disney cartoons. More precisely, symbolic dances – the disease had already weakened the girl a lot and she was holding on to only vivid impressions and emotions.
Eilidh was diagnosed in 2015, her family managed to raise 120,000 euros and send the girl for treatment in the United States, but this only delayed death. If she makes it, Eilidh wants to swim with dolphins, try on a mermaid costume, ride the London Ferris wheel, visit Disneyland and build a swing in the garden. The family will try to fulfill as many of her wishes as possible and even the “wedding” was organized in just a month, surprising many who are familiar with the story. Eilidh’s days are not numbered yet and there is hope that the girl will have time to realize all her wishes.
